Another reason “McSame” is pretty accurate

From today’s NYT, reviewing Bob Woodward’s latest book on the Bush presidency:

In a stinging epilogue, Woodward concludes: “For years, time and again, President Bush has displayed impatience, bravado and unsettling personal certainty about his decisions. The result has too often been impulsiveness and carelessness and, perhaps most troubling, a delayed reaction to realities and advice that run counter to his gut.”

Can anyone seriously doubt that that would be the epilogue on a McCain presidency as well?  It precisely describes everything we’ve seen recently from McCain.

‘Project Runway’ In L.A. Stalled By Judge’s Ruling

Monday, September 29th, 2008

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― The reality fashion show “Project Runway” will not be able to strut its stuff on the Lifetime TV channel, a judge ruled Friday.

A preliminary injunction was ordered by New York Supreme Court Justice Richard B. Lowe in a lawsuit filed by NBC Universal against the Weinstein Co., which produces the hit reality series hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum.

NBC Universal had aired the series on its Bravo channel. It sued Weinstein after the production company made a reported $150 million deal with Lifetime for the show.

The temporary injunction bars Weinstein from taking “Project Runway” or any spinoff to Lifetime and contended that evidence showed that Weinstein violated NBC’s “right of first refusal” for the show.

Mother Gets 15 Years In Prison For Stabbing Kids

Monday, September 29th, 2008

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) ― A Hartford woman who stabbed her three young sons as they slept nearly two years ago has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Carmela Ortiz, 25, cried and apologized before Judge David Gold handed down the sentence Friday in Hartford Superior Court. She said her world stopped on the night of Nov. 18, 2006.

“I never would have imagined I could be capable of committing such a heinous act,” said Ortiz, who pleaded guilty in July to attempted murder and assault.

The three boys survived the attack and are now living with their paternal grandmother, Margaret Valentin. Two of the boys are twins who were 2 years old when they were stabbed, and the third was only 7 months old at the time. (Read the full post about ‘Mother Gets 15 Years In Prison For Stabbing Kids’…)

Breaking: Ted Kennedy rushed to the hospital

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Channel 7 has just reported that Senator Ted Kennedy was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital this evening.  The only information they had was that he was “alert and responsive.”  Nonetheless, it’s obviously worrisome.  Our thoughts are with the Senator and his family.

UPDATE: As noted in the comments, Kennedy is apparently home — he was hospitalized due to a negative reaction to new medication.

BMG Online Debate Watching Fundraiser Party and Bingo Night 9.00 PM
(Don’t miss our party tonight! Right here online at 9.00 PM. See you then. - promoted by Bob) Hold on to your socks, BMGers. The first-ever Friday Night Debate Online Fundraiser is about to take the Massachusetts blogosphere by storm. The Bush-McCain campaign, after driving around lost for the past few days, has decided to rejoin the rest of the country on the campaign highway because “significant progress” has been made in the bailout talks. This after McCain’s Republicans destroyed the talks last night. You can’t make this stuff up. Our goal: $1,000, to add to the sack stuffed with over $55,000 you all have already donated to Obama for America. Woo hoo! Party starts at 9.00 PM right here online.
